The Half Moon Public House,
Main Street, Skidby
When one door closes, another opens (eventually)
On Monday April 17th my tenancy at the Half Moon will come to an end. (No, this not an April Fool).
With a long history spanning hospitality in Skidby since the 18th century, my short tenure of 5 years is but a fleeting moment in the life of the Half Moon which endures, resplendent while Landlords come and go like chaff in the wind. However, it still feels as though I’m abandoning a much loved child before it has reached maturity. ---- Enough, enough!! It’s careful planning and information that is needed at this time, not soppy sentimentality.
As I write this on the 24th of March there is still no successor and with further meetings planned with the owners over the next week the situation is still quite fluid. I can, however, be specific about the following.
From Wednesday April 4th our food service will reduce as fresh food stocks are used up and not replaced. We will be delighted to welcome “Walk in” customers who will be offered a restricted menu choice but we shall not be taking table bookings as it will be impossible to guarantee the menu availability.
From Monday April 10th our kitchens will close until further notice. Bar service will remain as normal. Please give us a ring on 843403 if you need any further clarification.
Remembering that every cloud has a silver lining, I reckon that the “End of a Tenancy” is a darn good excuse for a Party
– so -

A massive thank you to all my fantastic staff both past and present for their major contribution to the success of the Half Moon. An equally massive thanks to all our customers, without whom nothing would be possible. Please also accept my apologies for my not being able to continue on a journey that has been nothing but a joy and a pleasure over the last five years thanks to all of you.
The next chapter in the life of the Half Moon is about to be written, I hope it gives as much pleasure to as many people as the last chapter has given me
Cheers, que sera sera
