Bishop Burton Gardeners' Club
Bishop Burton Gardeners’ Club commence a new season of events
The Bishop Burton Gardeners’ Club begins its new series of meetings for 2013/14 on Tuesday 1st October 2013 at St. Mary’s Parish Hall, North Bar Within, Beverley. The meetings take place every first Tuesday of the month right through to April (except January) commencing at 7.30pm.
A series of illustrated talks will be given including slide shows and demonstrations to help people who are both new to gardening and those who have many years of experience, to improve their gardening knowledge and techniques. Tea and coffee with biscuits are available at the end of each meeting in a pleasant social atmosphere.
Membership of the Gardeners’ Club costs £15 per year while guests can attend for £4 per meeting. People wishing to join can do so at the door on the 1st October.
The first meeting in October is entitled “Plants with Personality” with the presentation given by Sue Hoy who, was, until recently, head gardener at Normanby Hall near Scunthorpe, which won Yorkshire in Bloom awards for several years. She has lectured widely on garden history and garden design, including a time when she was a part time lecturer at Bishop Burton College.
The Club also has a short programme of summer visits to gardens in the area.
The Chair of the Gardeners’Club committee said “The club has a strong membership but is always looking to welcome new members. The summer garden visits this year had proved particularly popular and there is a strong line-up of invited speakers for the winter programme.”
