HULL MALE VOICE CHOIR PRESENTS SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS IN HULL'S GUILDHALL with Special Guests Kirk Ella St Andrew's Community Primary School Choir on Friday 6th December 2013
In the magnificent setting of Kingston upon Hull's magnificent Guildhall, on Friday 6th December 2013 the Hull Male Voice Choir - which celebrated its Centenary during 2011 - is presenting its annual concert of Festive Music and Community Carols conducted by Julian Savory and accompanied by Dorcas Leather. This year, the Choir of Kirk Ella St Andrew's Community Primary School are their Special Guests Says Hull Male Voice Choir's Public Relations Officer, Terry Wallis: The HMVC has again had another very successful year, but our "Sounds of Christmas" concert is always regarded by many as being our flagship event, when many of our Supporters come along to commence their festive celebrations with us in the fabulous setting of Hull's Guildhall.
The concert will be entirely devoted to festive music and of course there will be opportunities for participation by our audience as they select and sing their favourite Community Carols. There will be a fabulous festive atmosphere to cheer us all up in what can be somewhat gloomy times against the background of continuing economic cuts and rising prices !
This is a concert for all the Family to enjoy ! This year, we are delighted that, courtesy of their Head Teacher - Mrs Susan Bush - the Choir of Kirk Ella St Andrew's Community Primary School will be our guests and we very much look forward to welcoming these new guests onto our platform, although many years ago a previous choir from the school did perform with us in a great concert at South Ella Church. I know that the children are very excited at this opportunity of performing in the splendour of The Guildhall in front of a substantial audience - so do please come along and support them - book the date now as Christmas is not far away !
The Charity Appeal bucket collection this year is in aid of Marie Curie, a well deserving charity. In common with many other choirs and organisations, these are challenging times for the Hull Male Voice Choir as regards recruitment for new members, the attraction of new audiences and the identification of new concert venues - in many ways all being very much inter-related - and anyone who would like to assist the Choir in any of these ways is invited to contact our Choir Secertary, Reuben Hird, on 01482 656869, as we have assisted many charities to raise monies over the years, and take great delight in doing so. We are all very much looking forward to entertaining our audience in great festive spirit at our Sounds of Christmas concert, and another capacity audience is anticipated so I urge our our supporters to obtain their tickets for this concert as soon as possible.
The concert commences at 7.30pm and tickets (Price £7/Children £3.50) are available from Gough & Davy (13 Paragon Street, Hull) or by calling Reuben Hird on 01482 656869.
